2012 Outdoor Pursuits

In 2005 Kington Lions sponsored a group of ten youngsters from the Kington area to go on an outdoor pursuits course for a week in the middle of the Summer holiday. This experiment worked so well that we have continued to back this venture almost every year, and now some 55 youngsters from the area have benefitted from the experience.

In 2012 Kington Lions again offered to fund up to 10 places for 14 -17 year olds who are based in north-west Herefordshire to attend an outdoor pursuits course. The schools of Lady Hawkins, Kington, John Beddoes in Presteigne, as well as The Weobley High Shool, were all approached for likely candidates who would benefit from such an opportunity. Unfortunately none were forthcoming, so there will be no beneficiaries this year. This is disappointing, as t
he young people who went in the past enjoyed their experiences and challenges, and learnt a great deal about themselves and about teamwork. We will try again in future years!
