2010 Outdoor Pursuits

In 2005 Kington Lions sponsored a group of ten youngsters from the Kington area to go on an outdoor pursuits course for a week in the middle of the Summer holiday. This experiment worked so well that we have continued to back this venture every year, and now some 50 youngsters from the area have benefitted from the experience.

In 2010 Kington Lions are again looking to fund between 5 and 10 places for 15 -17 year olds who live either within Kington or in the surrounding villages to attend an outdoor pursuits course.
The young people who went on last year’s trip enjoyed their experiences and challenges, and learnt a great deal about themselves and about teamwork.

For the first time in 2010, we have been offered sponsorship help by a generous local business. The Nisa Store (Ashby Stores) in Kington High Street has very kindly offered to sponsor two complete places on the outdoor pursuits course this year. We thank Mr Michael Ashby for this generosity, as it will enable us to make our limited funds go much further.

We are intending to book places on the course running from 7th to 13th August 2010. It will be a rare opportunity to travel to the far North West of Scotland and try new activities (Climbing, Abseiling, Mountain Walking, Kayaking, Survival, Land Yachting, Surfing, team challenges and many others), to meet new people and to have an unforgettable experience.

Application forms are available by email from Bruce Gardiner on bmgardiner@btinternet.com - or click on the document link on the right hand side of this frame.

Applications must be returned by the 16th February 2010 and selection will be made by 1st March 2010.
